Help WIth This 1829/Overdate Half

Check out the raised metal "V" on the reverse. I was wondering if
this is a noted variety. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

What you are seeing there is certainly post mint damage...unfortunately.

How do you end up with raised metal after the coin leaves the mint. Just trying to understand. If it is post mint damage then how can
you have a raised surface without fractured minting dies?

From your images of the coin someone had been carving it up

    with lines & X's.

Look on the right of that raised V for a trough like line that raised

    metal a long time ago.

Post mint damage. Cut so that the furrow raised up metal next to the cut. Think how a plow turns up dirt.

Sometimes only a very small knife point poke can also be made to look like a raised area on the coin. These can get tricky.
