How many dealers websites do you actively cover?

BoosibriBoosibri Posts: 11,867 ✭✭✭✭✭
Aside from the auction houses, I'm down to 5 with websites, another 2-3 without websites. At one time I had 20 I'd actively review.

I'm down to 3 and really only 1 that I do any business with anymore. I like to look but when buying, it all is just with one place.

If I purchase a coin, buffalo nickel, from a dealer that I just LOVE, I always go back and check on any others they may have. So, to many to list is the answer.

I try to view 20-30 per week, and hunt down new ones every week. At this point I'm hunting for purple squirrels that I can buy at reasonable prices, so I look everywhere...

In fact, I bought a coin on Amazon.com (an 1869 BG-830 Cal Frac) about a month ago.

I don't go to coin shows or visit dealers, so I do exclusively on-line shopping. I visit collectors.com daily as well...

Seven fixed-price dealers plus a couple of auction houses. Lots of viewing for very little buying. As it should be, I guess.

At my peak, there were the "Fab Five" for heavy grazing: CRO, DWN, Legend, Mark Feld, and Gold Rush Gallery, in addition to about two dozen others PLUS Heritage auctions.

Fast forward to today, and then there were three...CRO, DWN, and Legend, and that is all.

    I'm down to zero.

I've become so selective in my purchases, of such highly discriminating taste, that there are no coins, nor coin dealers, that meet my ultra-high standards for quality.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
