Today at the Baltimore show this coin was found missing. the coin was last seen at about 3:00 on 7/17/15.
The retail price is $127,500. The images of the coin are on my web site and also on ebay. I can't seem to link the images from my iPad, so if someone could do so, I would appreciate it.
Baltimore Police case number #01-150708173
Please spread the word on this and keep an eye out. There re only 20 examples and they are all tracked when they appear on the market, so it is hopefully unsaleable to any knowledgeable dealer.
Thanks all.

How does a 125K coin go missing for a day without anyone noticing? Nonetheless, that stinks!
Larry L.
yesterday, a person reached in one of the cases, grabbed old currency, and ran. Brain Raines, was one of the people who saw him run. The thief ran out the back, police followed shortly after but did not catch him.

Nobody said that it has been missing for a day, they said that it was for sure last seen at that time. Regardless though, what exactly does your question have to do with anything? Have you ever been a dealer with a table at a coin show?
here's the trueview too

Are you saying this is a common occurrence? Missing 125K coins? If so, you need a new line of work! And if you thought my question was irrelevant, you better re-read yours.

Hope this turns up and gets back to you right away. Being nearly unsellable because of it's rarity might be an advantage.
Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
Not surprised these things are happening in Baltimore though. No respect for others nor the law.
Be careful, stay safe!
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I am so sorry.
My stomach just flipped, Rick.
I hope it gets returned to you. I don't know
if you were manning your table alone, but I
know I would never work a table alone again.
Too easy for a cunning thief to practice his light
finger tricks.
Good luck. As Bill Jones mentioned, this loss
truly affects the Numismatic community.

Is there a way to notify the local pawnshops as well as any local Baltimore-Washington area dealers?

<< <i>It's probably going to be very tough to sell that coin as it is just too rare and easily traceable. I wonder what the thief was thinking?
Most thugs aren't that bright. He was probably thinking, "I'm gonna pawn this and get me a bottle of Hennessey." Good luck at the pawn shop with that one.
<< <i>Hopefully you get the coin back. I just can't believe people do this. It's such a shame. Did you notice any suspicious characters or do you have any leads? Maybe there are surveillance tapes? >>
remember the photo of the guy banned from coin shows by a judge for theft?
he looked like any joe.
it could be lost.
it could have been stolen by anyone.

Yep, there were 5 police at the show. Sure they will catch up with him soon. Many surveillance cameras, he registered also with a photo id, which is required.
Curious though if the two are linked to the same person.

<< <i>Rick, I'm sorry to read about this! Hopefully, it will turn up at one of the local shops where somebody tries to sell it. >>
Most likely show up in a pawn shop .. used with phony IDs
Perhaps it would be helpful to hide prices, but that's admittedly just one layer of a deterrent.
Considering that you usually skip the show I really feel bad
I'm going, although I usually skip the Summer show. Of course, if they close the casino, I would reconsider.

I'm guessing who ever stole this coin knows what he's doing. He'll probably crack it out of the slab and will probably dip it to hide its origin.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
Best of luck Rick.

<< <i>Man that's just terrible. Hope you get it back soon Rick.
Is it me or does it seem like a very common occurrence at the Baltimore show? Of course, thieves are everywhere, but it seems like more and more the words "stolen" and "Baltimore" get spoken in the same sentence AND in a numismatic context. I'm truly hoping that Whitman notices the trend and considers moving the show to a different city. Yes, it can happen in that different city as well, but I feel that Baltimore is getting more and more dangerous in the past few years. The Inner Harbor area is truly an enclave surrounded by some very, very bad people.

Rick - hope you recover the coin very quickly
Dennis - I agree with you that security is of utmost importance. I would suggest that show sponsors try to move around show locations each year.
There seem to be theft incidents of some sort at 70%+ of the shows I have attended over the past few years in various states. I generally hear the stories after the fact, but I did see a guy in hand cuffs last year!
