February pickup thread

Since nobody started one yet, here goes. Show off your February additions!
Here is a pair of 1964 Topps coins I just got. Picked them up for $4 each. Goes to show you don't need to spend a lot of money to get some cool stuff.

I'm not as far along my Yaz collection as others on this board, but got this great card! Even with the writing (which is partly in Spanish), a 1960 Yaz RC Venz is pretty...

Love the coins and I think that's the first Veni Yaz RC I've seen. Well done!
  • I already congratulated you privately, but great card!

Thanks LC - I hesitated a little because of the cost of this type of card, but figured I would pull the trigger because they don't enter the market too often.

Dan, as we've talked about it, I do appreciate it and looking towards you and the rest of the Yaz Master Board as inspiration!

Seriously, that's a monster card, and one I'll probably never own.

It is my big buy for the year probably. I figure one big Yaz card a year is the direction I will go. Throughout the year is when I'll pick up easier to come by cards. If I see another 1960 Ven, you'll be the first I tell.

That Yaz Venezuelan is astounding. The writing on it gives it real character and authenticity, IMO. I would love that card. Great piece. Congrats.

My second Kaline rookie, had a very nice SGC 40 that had a hard to see surface wrinkle on it, sold it though. Been wanting another one and this one looks nice:

I was just telling someone else this very thing when I decided to buy it. It makes it feel like it was picked right out of Venezuela and whoever owned it loved the card as part of their collection.

Thanks, it appears not to have the roller marks on the right side many Kalines have.

That's a great looking Kaline. I would be proud to own that card.

Love those perez steele autos! I've got a few of those but none the magnitude of Mantle or Williams.

    JR-

Sweet pins, sweet cards, and a sugary sweet anecdote. Absolutely love it when people take time to attach a little 411.

    Well done sir!

My latest cards for my 75 set.
The Stennett is really tough to find centered.
Glad to get this one to replace my PSA 8 that has poor centering.

I know 75 minis are all the rage, but I really like the full size ones better!! Colors stand out much more!!
  • Great cards shared this month. Here is something a little shiny. Happy to add this gem to the Sandberg PC. This card is serial numbered to 30. It's a beautiful card and one that many PC collectors try to hunt down.

      Hello all - here are some submissions fresh back from PSA. For the 1970 there were also 12 - 9's, 1 - 8.5, 9 - 8's, and a couple 7's.

Awesome stuff, guys! Just picked up a couple nice clean 77 Topps baseball cello packs.

Speaking of 75 minis, the #335 Palmer is one of the more notoriously tough cards to acquire in Mint 9 grade. I'd been searching for a long while for a one that fills the holder with no tilt and finally found this beauty to fit the bill (please excuse the specks on the scanner bed).

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
  • A handful of stuff that has rolled in so far this month. The Goudey Wide Pen Bridges is exciting as he is the focus of my collection and the first WP signed I've come across. It's also only one of handful "Tommy" signatures I've been comfortable with as he almost always signed "Tom".

More for my signed All-Star RC subsets.

A quartet of (hopefully) future stars. I'm especially high on Berrios.

I can't comment on everyone's pickups, but February has been a good month.

Mathew ... The Rocky collection is pretty cool.

GB2... That Maz is spectacular in mid-grade.

Eric... The Bryant is a pretty damn card, I hope you have a Cutch in your collection. If not I might have to send you one.

Tim... Absolutely gorgeous Jim Palmer. I'm sure even better in hand

UFFDAH... Those 10's are sick especially the '73

Here's a few I picked up. Two are from a sub the other I purchased.

Just got this in today's mail. Maybe the best looking PSA 7 Brett rookie I've seen.
About the only blemish is a little fisheye at bottom left of card.
Hard to find Brett rookies' centered this well.

Recently got an SP to add to my lifelong journey of the 1948 Leaf set. Even though it is a PSA1, I still think it has pretty good eye appeal. Some surface creases, rounded corners and a little of offset printing issues is about it. I still like it and got it for a great price.

  • Good mail day. Here are my newest Venz additions. The Torre is my favorite of this bunch.

These cards all have condition issues, of course, but the backs are unusually clean for Venies.

I now have 7 cards for the 68 Venz Red Sox team set.
