The BLOCKED BIDDER Thread - Organize Them Here

After selling a few items, then running into the occasional but regular posting of Ebay bidders to block, I found myself looking through a bunch of posts, writing down each suggested blocked bidder after reading the details as to why that bidder SHOULD be blocked. My hope was to beat them to the punch, as it were, and exercise an ounce of prevention, so to speak...

It occurred to me that all of us would benefit by having one organized thread where such information could easily be shared. Seems to me, this OP would be at the top of the list frequently enough that few would miss it, thereby bringing to the front of the list those miscreants worthy of this ultimate and effective rejection.

As a potential seller, I know it would benefit ME to have a central place to tap into... if it makes sense to you, list them here - thanks!

I've been on ebay since 2000 and this is everyone I've ever blocked...I have no idea why for any particular one, and haven't blocked anyone for quite some time. I don't see any recognizable names.

Really? So if you got on some idiot seller's BB list for no good reason and he posted his list here, how would you feel about being blocked by a bunch of other sellers (no time for stories, you know), then?

He's on my list also...don't know why...I'm not sure it's such a good idea to publish the list on a public forum.

I agree making these lists is a fine idea, thanks! It's usefulness is limited partly because the cheaters, thieves, and other dishonest ebay swindlers often have numerous usernames over time, use different names and addresses for themselves, and they also make use of the names, addresses, and credit card numbers of their gullible friends and relatives. To do so, they may provide their friends with phony excuses, since they typically have no qualms about swindling even people they know. I've been burned by a guy who used his girlfriend's information, which she complained about by email to me after they supposedly broke up. Even then, I still suspected it was the same guy pretending to be the girlfriend, and as usual ebay failed to intervene to stop the swindle until after it was too late. I then recognized the same guy under a different username on ebay later, and reported him repeatedly to ebay, and they did nothing until after he had successfully swindled a bunch of people.

Another way of recognizing the criminal element is to provide their name and address, not merely the ebay user ID. To avoid potential legal hassles, the dealers' association I belong to used to do that by warning members merely to be cautious when dealing with persons on a deadbeat list, but not making any accusations. Formerly there was a guy in New Jersey who kept track of cheaters who were reported to him by his subscribers, who were mail-order dealers in collectibles, his name was Antonio Santoro. I remember his lists very well, often you would see the same dishonest guy would be listed by a dozen different variations of his name, and would use addresses in several nearby towns, different PO Boxes, and different street addresses. Those same cheaters and similar types are of course now active on ebay trying to steal or swindle. It's become 'seller beware' just as much as 'buyer beware.'

Click on the site map on the bottom of the ebay page. Click on block bidder/buyer list.

Excellent idea! I was also going to suggest searching message bodies for "blocked!" to find a list of bidders outed here along with the rationale for them being blocked.

Thanks, everyone, for your contributions... If (IF?!) you run into more, post them here to keep the list current.

Remember though, I had asked for details for each BB, and with some of these posts, there's far too little room or time to do that. Better if you post one or two, perhaps more, and include your reasons, if possible. That may allow everyone else to more effectively decide if they wish to follow suit.

This illustrates why publishing these lists is a bad idea. While somebody may have very good reasons for blocking a buyer, those reasons don't automatically apply to other sellers. He has one on his list with whom I've done many thousands of dollars worth of business.

All my blocks are for very good reasons including multiple retracted bids, non-pays and other very good reasons. I don't need the headaches or issues and am very comfortable with my list. To each his own.

When I see threads stating to "block this bidder" because he asked a question and some folks can't handle being asked any questions (no matter how legit or not), I question any widespread posting of complete lists....one doesn't know the reason behind each.

I would not block someone for just asking a question. Some will though.
Someone may respond back to a question while upset at life in general and get into a pissing match and then block them, but the bidder may be perfectly fine to everyone else.

No.....just posting a complete BB list and encouraging others to do the same, without the complete history of why for each one, is more like a witch hunt and nothing I want part of

i block people for three reasons, one, they ask questions where the answer is explained clearly in the listing (this means they cannot read) two, low ball offers, if the price is too high, shop elsewhere. and three, for whatever reason i see fit. ebay has removed the level playing field, im not going to kiss someone's a s s to sell them something, i dont epect it, and i wont do it.

Fairtraderz used to do a lot of ebay schilling, that would get them on some lists.

I think they stopped schilling some years ago

I see sarge on quite a few lists.

Well, it had to happen... my first blocked bidder... or should I say, blocked seller?

Was looking at a proof Lincoln Cent, pictured in a way impossible to determine, so I posted the following question:

"Has this proof been removed from its US Mint capsule? If so, how is it handled, and in what type of holder is it housed? Are gloves used? Are there any fingerprints, or obvious blemishes, nicks, etc. on the coin? Thank you for your prompt reply!"

Seller's Response? "It is what it is".
