I for one formally ask the buyer to post a follow up to let us know how things finally turned out. I picture of the coin he received from the seller would be even better.
This thread is a prime example of why you take most members opinions with a grain of salt. IMO the buyer bought it based on the OP's description in the title of this thread.
Buyer left positive feedback on Oct. 15-- pretty long delay. Looks to me like the buyer went over the scheduled return period but seller agreed to accept it back or maybe give additional time:
<< <i>Hard to believe no one has emailed the seller for the rest of the story. Do not leave us hanging. I got an hour in this thread. I need closeure. >>
I emailed the seller early on - but got no response
he may not want hubris or hummus, or whatever the heck your talking about ..........but he bought the coin and then apparently returned it and edited his posts
........anyone that thought they could get a DCAM '59 Franklin in hi grade for under a grand should go into hiding
Oh, BTW, the only other time I have actually heard a human being use the word HUBRIS:
The late/great Mayor of Chicago Harold Washington once used the word HUBRIS in a press conference...I don't remember the exact quote, but it got a lot of local press coverage at the time, and thus was impressed into the public conciousness of Chicagoland.
The hootchie-cootchie Mayor (as he was known in some circles for his singing ability "...you sing like an Angel!") even went so far as to define HUBRIS in the same sound byte. He said HUBRIS was "arrogance gone wild."
I bet Cap'n Henway remembers this too.

I think we have read the last chapter of this horse opera. It appears the OP took the board's advice and returned the coin. It was a little outside the return period but he got a refund and left positive feedback. He then fled Dodge.
It's an unsatisfying ending for everyone. The Op feels like a dope for stupidly digging in his heels in spite of overwhelming advice to "get real". Hence, the edited posts. Readers were sucked in and left twisting in the wind. We want our time back. The seller is back to square one and has to find another sucker.
Just saw this thread has been dredged up to the top again.
We probably will not be told the rest of the story. Bummer.
I still think the picture of the auctioned coin is the best looking picture of a 1959 DCAM half that I have ever seen. If I collected pictures of coins instead of coins, the picture of the auctioned coin would be in my collection.

All of Paradigm's edited posts leave quite few chapters missing in this story. Unless legalities are concerned leave the entire story just that...entire!
The reason for dredging this old thread up to the top again is that Modcrewman gave me a heads up that on EBay right now is an auction for a raw 1958 proof Franklin that looks very much like the 1959 Franklin pictured in this thread.
The auction has 2 days left. So far there are 8 bids, with the current high bid being just over $33.00.
If you are interested, check out the EBay Franklin auctions (type in the search box "1958 proof" when you get to the Franklin section to narrow the search) and tell us your thought about the 1958 half up for auction.

If that is the case, please realize, Paradigm that it's likely no one was "agin" you, but rather , taken aback by the unexpected twists and turns.

Do we have a working definition for the above statement, even with the typo?

No, we don't, meaning the (so-called) guarantee was illusory.
Seller Feedback
Buyer didn't say anything about the coin in the feedback, only: "Thanks. Very trusted seller. A+ A true asset"
Meanwhile, Seller has not left feedback for buyer:

a look at their feedback shows a few raw Franklin proofs selling for over $500, and 3 of them 1959

What don't you guys get about that?
PS- apparently Paradigm came back for just one little more tweak of HUBRIS, because upon reviewing this thread, I see he has edited many of his posts.

The OP is not the one who purchased the coin.

Won't be nearly as contrasted in hand.
Russ, NCNE
Certainly looks to have potential. BTW - I have zero connection to the auction...nor intent to bid.
What leads you to believe the contrast on the pictured coin will be less, in hand?
BTW, I believe you.

Russ has forgotten more than i will ever know about coins, but i am always leary of a B/W photo. and besides the cameo is no where near monster
