can someone Identidy this Lincoln medal/token for me?

My parents were cleaning out my grandfathers saftey deposit box. There was a nice stash of old coins (mostly well circulated) including quite a bit of stuff from the 1860-1880's the family is going to take them to a local dealer to sell them all off, except for a few I have offered to by, so I have a few nice items for my small collection

There was one item though that I have no idea what it is..

On the obverse is a potrait of Abraham Lincoln facing to the right side of the coin

It says 16th President USA across the top of the Obverse and below that has the dates of his presidency

under his potrait it says Abraham Lincoln

ON the revese around the rim it say Honest Old Abe the Great Emancipator

On the reverse in the middle there is VERY tiny print

There are three "short paragraphs" on the back

The first says The most Revered American

The middle one says Served as President throughout the Great Civil War

and lastly

noted for his immortal gettysburg address

It has been "holed" at the top....I am just trying to pass along to my family what this is, and what information I can find out about it and what it might be worth. Can anyone help out! I would be happy to send a scan via email. If so, just send me a PM here..maybe someone more computer literate than me could post the scan here as well.

Thanks in advance for all of you help!

It would probably help if you would mention the size and apparent composition.

Consider selling the gold coins on the BST as you would likely get more for them here than at a B&M.

Could be 1930s era Cracker Jack prize, or Osborne Mint creation.

I believe it is Brass, it is about basically the same size as a quarter....the fact that it is holed, i am guessing it is fairly old

I will see if I can post a scan,

I would suggest you have your family get a quote from the local dealer, then post what you have on the BST. Unless you are lucky, it is likely that the offer from the local dealer will be very to extremely low.

  • I believe 1950's or 60's similar to the presidential set made by Shell. value 1 to 3 dollars. JMHO

You might try to contact the Osborne mint for more info. They made (and continue to make) Lincoln tokens for many decades.
