Gee...I better grab this "PR 64" (not such a thing, either). image >>

Jay, why did you say "not such a thing, either"?

    Here we go.

Mr. Coinhead, do you think a MS64 HR is a REAL PROOF? image

The only PROOFS are the UHR's to my knowledge.

Actually, Jay, many extremely knowledgeable numismatists are of the opinion that there are indeed Proof High Reliefs, not just Ultra High Reliefs. NGC certifies them, and my understanding (which could be incorrect) is that PCGS doesn't, primarily only because it is all but impossible to distinguish Proofs from some business strikes which were later struck from the same dies. The ones I have seen attributed as Proofs are different looking and have specific, identifiable markers.

You say this as if it's fact, when it actually is not. Some are struck betterthan others but thera re no records of the high relief struck ini PR except for the UHR.

Just because NGC designates some as proof doesn't mean much. With my very limited knowledge of coins except for Saints, I have never seen an NGC PR HR that looked like a proof...some are better than others, but that's the variant of the issue which was so tricky to make.

My point still remains, how much are you offering that NGC PR64 for on your site? image

I didn't "say this as if it's fact". I said "......many extremely knowledgeable numismatists are of the opinion that there are indeed Proof High Reliefs, not just Ultra High Reliefs." And in addition to NGC's certification of them, I spoke with someone from PCGS, whose numismatic knowledge is virtually unparallelled. He also seemed to be of the opinion that Proofs were struck. Ditto for other people who are far more knowledgeable than I (and dare I say, you?) am about such matters.

    Whatever.

I'm not posting to debate HR's in Proof. I was pointing out a stupid Ebay offer and now it's become another "Feld takes umbrage" thread.

I have no interest in this. See ya!

That's odd, it seems as if you are the one who has taken umbrage. But at least you (hopefully) learned that there might be Proof High Reliefs. See ya.

NOT A CHANCE. Call your pal and mentor, JA. See what he says. NOW we're done.

That was a very brief (post "see ya') absence. "Not a chance" that you learned there might be Proof High Relief's? That's a shame.

Did the seller delist the coin because you offered him 10,000? Is he sure you will accept the coin on approval. I dont understand--------BigE

It looks as if Ebay (as opposed to the seller) removed the listing.

That was/is in Saintguru's first post - in his listing, the Ebay seller wrote:

"Contact me now for this coin will not last long as I have it listed on my personal site for much less." That didn't inspire a lot of confidence that the price in the Ebay listing was one to jump all overimage
