Sure, but what would I do with an extra $37.00?

No, but there are times when I wish I could be "done" with coin collecting internet forums.

they tend to both entertain and depress.............and also chew up a lot of time that I should be spending doing my "work".

I think about it every time I pay for a coin I want, then quickly forget when I see the next coin on my list.

    Sure...everytime...

    Bernanke/Geithner says things are fine,
the Dow continues to climb on a thin market,
CNBC tells me the recession is over,
Greece seems to have it fugured out,
and derivatives gain value (according to Buffet)......

then I put the crack pipe down, blow the smoke from my deluded lungs and continue stacking, not collecting.

Actually, there is one part of my collection I would like to dispose of and never look back.

Unfortunately, the market is ultra-thin so it is likely to stick around for awhile.

Every time I go to a big show and see the rows and rows of slabbed "rare coins" it makes me want to sell everything I own. In fact I have been slowly selling off my slabbed collection and I'm putting the money back into circulated half cents and Walkers. So I guess I'm not done with coin collecting just going in a different direction.

Sometimes. The counterfeiting really gets me down.
But I guess I like coins more than I like money. Because I'll have a thought like that and an hour later, I'll find myself looking around the BST...

OKAY I gave you all a chance.

It's worth a million, but no one wanted it for half that.

    Oh well!

Question for those that would sell---where would you put the money from the sale of your collection? Paper assets?

  • Hi,

"paper"..and Kodachrome....what I did essentially. I bought more vintage photographs and slides for my collections. It's not bad - I get to enjoy the originals while collecting fees for use here and there. image Look for the book Designing Tomorrow in September from Yale/The National Building Museum. I illustrated the 1939/40 New York World's Fair section. You can see 10 of my 1939 NYWF slides, color corrected and restored by me image
