maybe five times a year for coins that perfectly fit my set. Typically two of those times are the January FUN Show and the Summer ANA Show. The other times are just random events.
The problem isn't the lack of opportunity---it's the lack of funds to take advantage of the opportunities.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

With the series that I collect the opportunity is pretty rare. Its not the funds that are the issue its the lack of quality coins that come on the market. Maybe once every few moneth something will pop up but thats about it.
I heard that knock about a month ago when Liefgold offered me his 1854 D gold dollar, PCGS XF45 for a very reasonable price. There are perhaps 60 or so of these coins in existence.
However, the knock was muted by the ever increasing wedding expenses for my youngest daughter...who marches up to the alter this friday.
Goodness knows....Im much more happy buying drinks for 100 people I dont know, paying a 20 year old kid 500$ fo punch keys on his laptop and play DJ , buying flowers for 4 hours use.....than buying an ultra rare coin I can keep for the rest of my life. *(yeah right)*
only saving grace was that the bartender has agreed to have TWO bottles of Harveys Bristol Creme available for me, so I can get well and truly soused (first time in 25 years)

The problem is not opportunity. The problem is making the smartest choice for the money because I have a limited coin budget.
I suspect this is true for most collectors.

Who's there?
Opportunity.
Opportunity who?
The opportunity that knocks only once.
