Relatively new to this series. This coin has no apparent signs of wear and is a great strike. The issue is that it has a greyish haze that blocks out any luster. The coin has proof like fields behind the haze. Any insight into the coin is appreciated. Excuse the photos. Hard to get an accurate photo of this coin.

  • If you purchased this recently, attempt to get your money back. Judging from the image on my monitor, the coin appears to have altered/damaged surfaces at best. And, as a rule of thumb, 'great strike' + negligible luster = rotten coin.

Not sure, but is it even genuine? Something just seems off to me.

Look at the arrows on the reverse. You have an example of the "broken arrows" variety. There is not much of a premium for that variety, but it is kind of neat.

Thanks. I know it is real and the coin does not have any damage. The question is the grade based on the lack of lustre.

Possible PVC contamination. That may be why it isn't slabbed ... because it definitely should be.

No PVC. Came from on old collection. Was stored in an old 2x2 envelope.

I think it's genuine, it has great details, but there's definitely something going on with the surfaces. It's tough to tell from the images provided.

The coin is greyish in color. Something from the envolpe perhaps......The pictures are lousy as well. Will try for a new set later.

I agree that the surfaces/luster do not look right. It appears to be genuine, though
