Thanks guys-Pic success

PhotoShop is a PITA to figure out (and I'm using Photo S Elements). With some help, a few things are learned.
This pic is full of FIRST TIMES; first of a few shots with the first DSLR and the first of a few type changes in Photoshop.
As the first of so many things it's a poor pic, but I'm so happy get this far I had to show it.image

    Cool! You'll get better and better, and look back at your early photos and shudder.

    There's too much glare/over-exposure in those places where the coin is white. Sometimes you can recover what is washed out by adjusting highlights (if shooting raw it is very easy and effective). Otherwise you're in for some fun (frustration?) toying with lighting and exposure.

    It's all good. Keep playing! And pay attention to tips and technique in Mark's awesome book.

    That's a very good image, but if you back your lights off a little I'll bet you won't get that washed out look. Super nice looking high relief!!
    The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

    I would say that is way above average for a first attempt. Not a bad pic at all.
    I'll be eagerly awaiting the second.

    If there actually is a band of rainbow toning in the field from above the eagle's beak, which arcs through the lettering and around to the eagle's tailfeathers, this would be the first and only time I have ever observed that on a gold coin.

    I see what you are talking about.Missed it the first time.There's more on the breast feathers and a few other places. Makes me doubt it's on the coin.Maybe it is some kind of prism effect?
