<< <i>I had planned on going, but my son's Boy Scout event (pinewood derby) was moved to Friday March 5th due to the snow we had the prior week.
He won a gold medal. >>
My son took second 3 years in a row behind some kid's dad who openly admitted that he built the car. After the 3rd year, I tried to get my son to go up to the guy and congratulate him, he wouldn't do it.

<< <i>Can't think of any reason to fly that far when the ANA spring show is an hour and a half drive (well, 2 hours if OK or TX highway patrol is reading ) away later this month. >>
What he said, except my drive is twice as far. I am going to the Fort Worth ANA show in a few weeks. I hope it turns out to be a better show than Baltimore apparently was. I didn't see that many great reports on it. Mostly just so-so or even slightly negative. With PCGS making the "Big" announcement, and the BBQ brisket and ribs that will be served, the Fort Worth ANA already sounds better.

I have an 8-hour drive but it is not the reason for not going because I have driven it many times to go to this show.
It is not the money because if I find a coin I need for my set(s), I buy it no matter what because they do not come along frequently enough for me to wait for another coin.
While there is a lot of fun to be had seeing exhibits and chatting with dealers and other collectors, the main reason for going is to find coins that I need for my sets and lately pickins have been slim. I have a dealer who looks for me at lots of coins shows across the US and if isn't finding them, I figure my chances are poor enough to warrant foregoing this show.

2. It's too close to Gaithersburg for my liking.
3. I was sick that day.
4. Oh yeah, I live on the other side of the planet.

2) The four hour drive and tolls.
3) It conflicted with the MCC show (which was great).
4) I get better prices at local shows.
