New to coins, asking for a hand.

in U.S. Coin Forum
I came across some coins and never being into the sort of thing I do not know where to turn to. I bought a 2010 red book and it has helped give me a ballpark but the matte, satin, prooflike, deep cameo etc is a lil hard to judge myself. I have a couple coins that i think are errors and was wondering if i posted the scans of the coins would anyone be interested in helping me out. Thanks for your time in reading this.

    The first thing I'm obligated to tell you is that you should NEVER clean ANY of the coins.

    And like SilverEagles said do not clean them! Also another thing to avoid is putting fingerprints on them. It is best to hold the coins by the edges when you handle them. Definitely post some scans - no matter what coin it is somebody here will be able to give you some information about it.

    I have not posted them yet. But i will. Where should they be posted? In this channel or the Q&A or buy/sell? It's mostly all silver and wheat's. 1921 Proof morgan i think....1964 quarter with a triple die mint mark it looks like. Ill scan what i have, maybe someone can help me with what they might find.

    Please get a photobucket account... and make the pictures much larger, if possible.

    Your Morgan is either a proof, or dipped. With small pictures, your guess is as good as mine.

    What is a Zerbe proof? These coins came from a friend. I'm just doing the research for him. And now i got it for the photos i think.

    Your half dollars and quarter are worth the melt value. Currently $3.12 for the quarter and $6.24 for each half. They are worth melt due to their common dates and lower grades.

    Well, I found out that the friend that passed these coins along were from his grandmother who passed away about a month and a half ago. This person has had a history with the law and I have my doubts about his story. But the peace dollars have this golden hue to them? is that called a satin finish or is there another name for it. And is there any websites that show the different types of dies? Like the Zerbe/Chapman types of the morgan? Im working on the pictures right now so ill have some posted soon.

    The golden color is just natural toning over time. Unless they are error's or have a special mint mark on the back, they are just worth the price of silver. Still better than nothing!!

    The Peace dollars look pretty nice and I believe I see some luster on them. Above all, please don't attempt to clean them, as that will drastically reduce their value to a collector.

    Yeah, i do not clean any coins i find. If these have been cleaned before hand i do not know. My camera sucks in close up photos so thats why i am scanning them. I will do the both sides of the coins.

    Other way to do it is use pcgs online photo grade and compare pics of graded coins to yours.
