Heritage shipping! But not art.

You have to arrange your own. Has anyone tried any of the recommended shippers? I have a Fedex account and was wondering if they can handle it.
Anyone know?

I haven't heard anything about arranging your own shipping either.

That would be about the dumbest marketing decision they could possibly make.

IIRC, it's only for their art department that you need to arrange your own shipping.
  • My experience with Heritage has been that sometimes the buyer is responsible for S&H. My sense was that the determining factor was the hammer price. They told me they would disclose this fact in the auction, and they have a list of shippers they recommend. Seems like cutting corners on customer service, for negligible benefit to them. Certainly they can do business however they choose, but it comes off as laziness. I know shipping is a PITA.

We do require third party shipping for certain items, specifically:

    Art auctions
    Breakable items in other auctions
    Very large items

We never require third party shipping for coins and most other collectibles.

    Thanks!

Perhaps a change to the OP Title would be in order?

    Gottcha,
I didnt realize it was only with specific items. Kind of stinks as I just bought a few pieces of art.

    Sorry for the confusion.

Lets see, you buy "a couple pieces of art" which Heritage says you must ship because they are too fragile, so you post here that Heritage quit shipping everything including certified coins encased in hard plastic. Seems like quite a jump to meimage----------BigE

Robb, since you seem to know the OP, could you explain why he hasn't edited the title yet?-------------------------------BigE

When your mistake has potential to damage the reputation of a good company because you do not know what you were talking about....YES, it IS a big deal!

I recall an Edinburgh Scotland auction house that dealt with coins that expected you to arrange either pickup or your own shipping.
