$10 and under thread (here's some of mine....feel free to post your own)
Do you have coins you bought that you like that didn't cost a mint? How about under $10?
(coins were photo'ed in their 2x2s, so the cellophane gave a reflection
I was trying out new lighting though, so just wanted some quick shots to see how the toning showed...I'm happy with the new lighting showing the toning
)

This one was picked up Saturday from a local shop. It was unpriced, in their "junk" bucket, so I asked a price...was told "$2", so I got it since nothing else was worth getting

<< <i>The mintmark position of that 55-S is interesting. >>
I didn't even notice that, but that's wild.

I don't see anything like it in the CPG though
Folks....feel free to post your own "$10 and under" coins that you like and have bought.

<< <i>How do you get the pitch black background in your pics? >>
When I crop them in photoshop (any editing program will do), I choose a black background.
I've tried different colors but have found, and others have commented as well, that black background generally works best

Got this for about $2 all said and done (bought a roll). Actually, got two in the roll that are this quality (pop = 35 now). Only three with a higher grade. Most of the rest of the roll was either MS66, or MS65 FB. Images aren't the greatest, and the golden color isn't really present. Not sure where it picked that up from...hmmm.
Cheers!

Some of my favorites are world coins and under fear of banishment I cannot show them, like my first Ancient Roman that I traded off of LordM at $10, or the 1623 Polish 3 polker I purchased from Allan G. Berman at CoinFest last year for $9.50...but here are some of my American coins that I paid less then $10 for...
I inherited this Peace dollar and three others, as well as two Morgans...so technically they were free. Photo has been shown before...
$5 netted me this 1932 quarter. One dealer I like to visit when I can (who unfortunatly is over 6 hours away from my home in one direction!) always has some interesting stuff in his $5 box. I have no (good) images but on my first ever trip there-also my first ever visit to a coin shop, before I knew ANYTHING, for example that there were any mint marks beyond P and D, I pulled a 1832 half dime and an 1852 large cent from the same $5 box.
Actually, I have a decent picture of the back of the large cent, but the front (or obverse, if you wish) came out blurry. This is THE very first coin I purchased as a numismatist. It may not be in the greatest shape, but it'll forever remain special to me for that reason. Also, now nearly 2 years later, my only large cent.
This 1894S Half was a gift to me-the only Barber Half in my collection and something like the 6th Barber design of any denomination in my collection.
Reverse photo is a bit washed out. More then the obverse, which is also washed out.
Budget collecting can still be fun, even though bugetLESS collecting would be more fun!
