I would have been at the show if airfare from SFO, SJC, or OAK was cheaper than the $535 for a roundtrip. Compare that to the $276 to go to St. Louis during the same time.

MOON? Is that the Minnesota Order of Ornery Numismatists?
  • I'll be there Sunday morning. Hopefully there will be a few cents left to cherry pick!

I'll be there Friday - Sunday, helping out another dealer behind his table. Stop by and introduce yourself - I'll be working with Dakota Coins and my nametag will say Bill. We will be wearing the big bright yellow shirts.

Greg Allen Coins (ie: foodude) also sets up at this show. I believe it is advertised as a 118 table show.

Stopped by today, saw foodude and Civitas. Sold some medals for a fair price and bought a few Conder tokens, including a very nice one from Civitas (thanks again Josh)! image

Didn't seem very busy today, some discussions overheard on the state of the economy and what it means for dealers and collectors. A number of dealers expressed reluctance to purchasing gold or silver "bullion" coins unless they could immediately flip 'em or sell them to the smelters.

    Certainly not the usual "buzz".

I went on Friday when it opened. Sold off some modern proof sets, a complete set of "BU" Franklins I bought about 15 years ago when I was dumb (before I knew what a slider was), as well as a Walker "BU" short set. To be honest, some of them had toned beautifully. I didn't take a bath, but I didn't realize much for holding them that long, other than learning from them over the years.

I did come away with an 1817 CBH in AU50 that was in the case as a common coin. The comet head had me looking at the reverse hoping for the single leaf and there it was. Old dip, retoning with a few more hairlines than I would like, but pushing AU55 details. It was a nice upgrade for me.
