Not the best image to try to grade from but I will guess au58.
Looks to be some rub on the high points.

  • 62 from the obverse.
    Grade the reverse as mush.

the image is make the coin appear brighter than it is.

100% original, no trace of wear whatsoever - Stacks graded it MS60 which I felt was undergraded. Thought it would grade a MS61 and MS62 on a good day.

I was really suprised on the AU53 grade. There is not a hint of rub

    When in doubt, don't.

Honestly, I was going to say 53. Originally, I had questions about the surfaces and the dreaded body bag. I think I agree with this grade, and a sticker for you.

The knees, hair, cap, thumb, and breast would support that. IMHO

Your Stack's raw purchase graded out? Consider yourself fortunate. A principal of the firm instructed me, after my last and final purchase, something to the effect of "if you want a certified coin from us, buy a certified coin from us".

I think that it graded pretty fairly.

I was going to say AU-55, so I was pretty close!

I have had all my purchases from the to slab although I had to lightly dip one coin.

Ironically the last dime I just got back from PCGS was an AU53 too, his one was a coin with a rub for sure and I figured it would grade 55-58.

Side by side ( and I will add that photo) there is no comparison at all. This is much nice coin. I am certain this coin will upgrade if I resubmit it but am not going to do so.

I did get 5 of 8 upgrades last time I felt the coins were undergraded. This coin is a no brainer 61/2 on it's worst day.

I wasn't sure if I was seeing any rub on the reverse, but I don't see any on the obverse.
It does have an interesting color/toning compilation on both sides.

It looks really kind of cool in person, a lot of color but 100% original skin which is getting rare these days

I like it and 63 is my grade. edited to add: I don't think 53 is an appropriate grade unless there are real issues that cannot be seen in the image

I wanted to comment on this comment as told to another member and posted by that member:

Folks... this is why there is TPG and if I were told that, it would be my last purchase from them as well. I guess they would not miss my business anyway as I recall only buying one coin from them in the past at a show and that experience alone is worth its own thread that will never be written. In any event, what a disturbing comment.

  • No wear at all + negative eye appeal= MS61. This is one of the few coins I would say may actually benefit from a dipping. And I almost never say that!

Apparently, it saw a day that was worse than worst. Worstest?

please update this thread if you decide to resubmit.

i cannot really make a guess to the grade due to the nature of the
coin and the pics. it is really tough to guess.

    I'd have said 58.
  • As ugly as some say, at least it appears to be 100% original and I love it. I would say technical grade 63, knocked down 1 or 2 points for the toning. Not sure of the selling price, but I am sure it was worth the effort.
