Could have been mine!!! (sorry for the mistake)

hi all,
I don't really collect coins but I do keep them if I find them or if my gf (who works for a bank as a teller) finds some for me. But anyways, I just wanted to share something she told me yesterday.

Her branch recieved a call from a non customer and he asked if he can come in and trade $1000 of silver coins with cash. But the manager said no bc he doesn't want to deal with that much coins. I was in shock when she told me this!! Dammm, if he was a customer or if the manager would of said "yes", those coins could have been mine!!

FWIW, many old-timers still refer to dimes, quarters and halves as "silver," even though it is the post-1964 copper-nickel alloy.

  • The person that called asking the bank if they could bring in $1000 of silver coins is probably the same person that calls names out of the phonebook asking if their refrigerator is running.
