The "Prodigal Half Dime"... returns home.

Quite a journey in just the last two years for this piece but now.... it's home. There are only 34 PCGS graded of these in all grades combined, that's even a lower number than my '53 No Arrows Quarter. This is numismatic satisfaction for me. A special thanks to Brian Greer for helping make this happen

Very nice! I need one of those myself as I collect Seated Liberty Half Dimes by date and mint. I have the 1853 no arrows, but not the New Orleans version.

    Congratulations!

This appears to be a well-suited addition to your set. Also, Brian is a great guy to deal with. Thumbs up on both accounts! image

    good looking tough coin!
  • Great coin!
  • Real nice example of this rare half dime, Richard.
I have one, but it's just in the good, VG range. Only the very top of the date numerals show. Thats a diagnostic characteristic for this coin.
I paid $25 for it. Probably a little less than you paid for yours.

Beautiful coin Rship, congrats. She's a looker even if she weren't rare image

Lath is right about the date on the 53ONA's, they all suck. Tis a shame.

Congrats on getting the coin back. It clearly pleases you...and it should.
  • So- how or why did you sell it, and where has the prodigal dime been since? How did Brian Greer help you find it again?

Is this the one they claimed was arrows removed?

Thanks for all the replies. Ray and Bigmark... you're right image

We'll just have to leave the "rest of the story" for another day and place.

Those are rare- no doubt about it. Mine is only a G-6, and it's the lowest grade half dime in my complete set by far.
