Thoughts on 2008 Proof Silver Eagle

Any thoughts on how valuble 2008 Proof silvere eagles might be? It appears this could be a very low mintage if the Mint doesn't produce more by the end of the year.. What say all of you?

Thanks,
Chuck

  • 94 and 97 are tough years as well..... It would be nice to see a low year minted during my collecting years..

If anything I like the new look.....

Isn't the mintage simular to the 1999 ? I don't see much of an increase.

2008 indeed could be a low mintage year ( historically speaking )with 712,378 having been sold so far.

I see it as a high mintage, am I missing something? The pricey ones are 93,94, and 95...

The fact that a number of these are probably in collector hands and not in dealer hands, I am figuring dealers did not get a chance to order these for xmas time, could mean that the coins are spread out and might make this a better then common year.....

Know if the mintage figures are as high as are listed in this thread, I don't see much overall potential.....

The 08 proof has been unavailable for months, and won't be offered again, according to a Mint rep. The strory I heard was that the proofs

were being melted down to produce the uncs. Heard it here somewhere. So what value does the mintage have?

I watched a few end at $50-$60 over the last few days. Sleeper under the radar?
