Is there any premium for this doubling of the date? I am ass/u/ming it is machine doubling and I am wondering if it is worth the money to have it recognized on the label? Will PCGS even recognize it?

Thanks, GrandAm

looks too pronounced to be machine doubling to me. I don't have my CPG in front of me, maybe someone who does will chime in.
Since I don't do Trade $'s, I've never looked at that section in the CPG.

Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
.....it appears to be machine doubling.
I wrote an article on it for the Gobrecht Journal, which was published in Issue #70 in November of 1997, page 34 and 35.
This Trade Dollar has the Type 2L obverse and Type 2L reverse.
The 2L obverse has 4 fingers on the hand holding the olive branch with a small protrusion on the index finger of the other hand.
The top of the right ribbon tip is not doubled, and the ribbon tips point down toward the date.
The Type 2L reverse has 2 smooth tail feathers blending down the back of the tail, and there is no berry under the eagles claw.
This variety has the medium S mintmark.
My example has the doubling under the flag like yours, but there is a similar amount of doubling under the bottom of the 7.
Your specimen has to be a later die state.
There is a picture of mine in the Gobrecht Journal article, taken by Tom Mulvaney.
Edited:
This is not machine doubling. It is a repunched date.

I have no doubts that this is not Machine Doubling. There is far too distinct a separation on the end of that 7!
Now the only question is: "Is it attributable?"
The name is LEE!
Thanks for the info so far!
Is this a listed Cherry Pickers Variety? Any premium on it?
Thanks, GrandAm
It is strange that the repunching at the bottom of the 7 doesn't show on your piece.

It may not show in the photo but it is clearly seen in-hand.
I just got an e-mail from a member of "THE IKE GROUP" who tells me it is listed on page 304 of The Cherry Pickers Guide.
That IKE Group knows everything don't they
Now if I can just find that dang CPG

Thank you Gary for educating me on the RPD; I'll check mine when I get to the SDB's.
