Coin Store policy question...

This sounds pretty negative to me. I want to buy a coin from them but it looks like it might be a week before I will even see the coin. Am I off-base on this? This does not sound like a customer service oriented business to me. It sounds like they have too much business and are trying to reduce it.

Their business, they can run it any way they want. But I see PLENTY of coin shops that photograph ALL coins and respond to emails usually within hours. 4 -7 days?

"
Please note:
emails: we receive hundreds of emails. we make every effort to answer requests but often run 4-7 days behind. if you wish immediate contact we recommend calling xxx-xxx-xxxx.

images: we have more coins than time to photograph. we take pictures of requested coins most weekends and email images early in the week. if you wish to see a coin you need to notify us by wed to allow us time to pull from bank vault.

I agree, websites without photographs bug me. I understand having hundreds or thousands of coins and that it's a time consuming process, but how about all coins above $50 or $100 or something? I know there are some respected dealers who don't photograph any of their coins and many members here swear by them...but you're right, Slipgate, it's not a good way to run a business (providing you want that business to thrive that is).

Depending how tough the coin is that you're looking at it, it might be worthwhile to wait. If not, move on.

If I see a coin that I like, I would use the good, old-fashioned telephone and inquire about it. I don't call dealers that often, but if there is something that I am really interested in, the coin dealers get a personal phone call from Longacre. I would not mess around with sending an email, especially since the dealer is telling you up front that he is 4-7 days behind on messages.

sounds like every other retail business trying to stay afloat in this economy... to much work and not enough time to get everything done..
They seem to have laid out their normal policy clearly and a contact number if this policy did not fit within your parameters so they could accomodate you..... cut the poor guy some slack,,,

For a second there, I thought I was going to read about a B&M Coin Shop that only had "pictures" of coins they have in inventory but eventually the post got around to the real meat of the matter regarding an "INTERNET Coin Shop".

If the seller has a coin I want, then its off to the telephone to verify and validate especially when they are upfront with being 4-7 behind on emails. Even though our society has become heavily reliant upon electronic mail systems, those same systems have some serious flaws which can be totally eliminated via a simple telephone call.

I don;t think it sounds negative as much as it sounds realistic.

Yeah, I'd call them and get a verbal description like we used to do in the goodle days and make sure there is a return policy.
You might have to actually expend smoe effort & move more than your mouse finger to get that coin if you really want it.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
