1929 Babe Ruth PSA/DNA ball

Please help me understand why someone would sell this great piece of baseball history only to turn around and buy other things like a Babe Ruth collector's plate, Babe Ruth postage stamps, or a 1986 Roger Clemens signed program?
A few scenerios might be that he has a better Ruth ball, maybe a single-sig? or what????
He turned around and bought a Babe Ruth collector's plate for cryin' out loud!
I must be missing something....
I'd appreciate any replies before 12:30 am eastern .... so I can get some sleep!

And the crap he bought is really only a fraction of the value of the Ruth ball. It's not like he spent all the $4000+ on collectors plates. It was only $5.99.
$4000 can be used towards your mortgage. $5.99 is a McDonald's value meal.
Hope that helps you get some sleep!
Maybe he was worried about it degrading over time and not being able to get as much ?
Maybe people were trying to steal it from him and he figured , let me sell it before I lose it ?
Maybe he caught his son playing with it in the yard and figured he better sell it before he loses it ?
When I sold my 32 Yankees baseball it was not something I wanted to do , it was something I kinda had to do to help me buy a machine for work .
Hurt like hell to do it but it makes my job a hell of a lot easier and it makes me more money at a faster clip .
Sometimes ya just got to do what ya got to do , for me it was a good thing it didn't do too badly at auction, although I think it should have got more than what it sold for but that's water under the bridge .
Sorry I don't have any definate answer for you , but it's practically impossible to read this guys mind
