The only one time I buy the plastic and not the coin, I get screwed...

I see this and think... "HEY, THAT'S COOL" and buy it...

It comes today, the back side well TAPED down well onto a piece of plastic foam. I carefully remove the tape and... you guessed it... TAPE RESIDUE image

Now my question is... what is the best way to remove such residue from a slab, because I'm SURE that PCGS will not reslab it the way I want it image

I think it's still cool and all, but not with the FRIGGIN residue image

Now... is goo-gone safe for slabs/coins? Is there a way I could remove this residue? Thanks for any suggestions!

Goo-Gone should take care of it with no problem to the holder. image
  • I use Goo-Gone all the time, and have experience no problems or long-term effects.

WD-40 applied to a soft cloth. Works every time.

To remove tape residue, always try using scotch tape to try and dab it off first. You might be surprised at how easy it actually is.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

That slab looks kindo beat up anyway. You may want to use some plastic polish on it too. --Jerry

  • My wife uses peanut butter to get tape glue off anything. I tried it and it works really well. Just a dab on your finger, rub it around and then wipe it off. Works fine.

Denatured Alcohol, WD40, Nose oil/grease you know that stuff that's there when it's hot and sweaty time.
And Meguiars PlastX have all worked at one time or the other for me.

Thats a new one for me. I'll have to try it. I have some stubborn residue on some metal that is dried and caked. Even WD40 does not work. image

Nice price I would have bid at least that if I'd have seen it.

I do the same thing and it works most of the time. Nose grease also works.

The Lettered Edge 1795 Cent had tape on the slab, I cannot understand why someone has to mark up the slab with tape and garbage.

This is often a sign that the dealer is not and never has been a collector. Otherwise, he would know better.
