Isn't he a tough auto? He died in like the 70's or something?

This one here absolutely breaks my heart to post. I have posted it hear before. It is the most favorite autographed card I have ever owned. I bought it on a hunch that it was real from a man locally. My hunch was right as you can see it is in a PSA/DNA holder. However, at the beginning of the summer, the compressor for the A/C in our house kicked the bucket after 8 years of living here. I had to spend $985 to get the A/C fixed. Well, this card had to be sacrificed on Ebay. I am posting it because (number 1) it WAS mine and (number 2) I think it is a beautiful autographed card.

YES, I AM LOOKING FOR SYMPATHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is an auto of the recently deceased Darryl Stingley. His paralysis-inducing injury was in 1978 but I don't know if this auto is pre-injury or after he regained some movement.

That is really something. Such sad stories about September 11th. That card is definitely a keeper.

    thekid8,

I was just wondering who your favorite player was? image

    Shane

  • These are part of a master set I'm working on which I should be done with by the end of the year. Not the "greatest" of all-time but it has a couple of players who may win that title someday. All from the 2000 Collector's Edge Supreme set. All PSA/DNA autos.

Just a slow process of buying them when I see 'em. Not the most popular HOF'er out there, but he was from the town I live in, so I figured, why not??

Thanks most of my Jeters came in person the one time he was with the clippers and made a stop through my hometown rochester ny. It was on the field autograph day and he graciously signed all I had. Heres a photo I blew up and had him sign the next day and the rest of my Jeter autos. The Yanks 8x10 and Si were signed at one of the all star games I have attented

Wow, Sean. That is some collection! Is autographed cards the main focus of your collection, or do you have things you focus on?

    Shane

  • schr1stschr1st Posts: 1,677 ✭✭
It's one of the major focuses of my collection, but not the only. I also work on Bowman Chrome Gold Refractor sets, minor league cards, and generally anything else that I find interesting. My collecting habits are all over the map.

A couple of HOFers that I pulled when I used to buy modern. Nothing special, there have been some tough acts to follow on this thread. Sorry for the lousy crop job on Killer.

Not rare, but interesting - Chester "Red" Hoff, who was the oldest living Major League Baseball Player. I received this in the mail from him in June 1998, 3 months before he died at the age of 107.

Nothing super amazing, but they are HOF'er just the same. I sent these off TTM on 9-14-07 and received them both today. These 2 cards were just laying around, so I decided to send them off to get signed. That is 7 days for 2 different HOF'ers! Not bad.

Not mine but I remember it was on ebay and now it is for sale on a website for $1600 (which seems like a low price considering the significance of the year).

This was an interesting item in Mile High's last auction. If you're familiar with 1964 Topps you know there is a memorial card of Ken Hubbs, who was killed in a plane crash before the '64 spring training season. This is obviously one of the last autos he could have signed.

  • frankhardyfrankhardy Posts: 8,083 ✭✭✭✭✭
Wow, I wonder how much that Ken Hubbs brought?
