Anyone notice low eBay Auction Prices the last few days?

Being the last few days before taxes were due, I saw a few coins go for much less than I thought they would. Last night, I picked up a 1913 Matte Proof Lincoln in 65BN for under $600, and the night before, a 1913 MPL in 65RB went for just over $600. These coins rarely come on eBay, and they usually go for very strong money. My high bid on the 65BN was $745, and the 65RB should have gone for over $800. Anyone else see anything like this?

I have had two large batches of coins, one ending this past weekend, the other the weekend before. Both groups sold for about 90% of my cost...before ebay/paypal fees. Looks like the golden goose is cooked...

  • Now that you mention it, I saw a NGC slabbed 1914 D Lincoln in Fine go $10 below bid.

    Yes.

On the traditional tax day(April 15th- okay, I know it was a Sunday), I scored this one for hundreds less than I though it would hammer. With 3 seconds left, I sniped with a bid of $2900. Lucky for me, the underbidder was cheap. and no one else came in on the end! image

I don't know... I had a NPB on 17 auctions... relisted two or three weeks after they last closed, the net was $400 higher or so... perhaps that's because there were a lot of international buyers, though image

Maybe people are having to send their extra money to Uncle Sam?

I just sent a check for $12,227.00 image

This may seem odd, and perhaps even off the mark, but I have sensed that winning prices are lower when the weather is bad enough to cause widespread power outages as seen on the East Coast the last few days.

It's obvious that those of you reporting this aren't going after the same stuff as me.

In slabbed generic gold and US Silver 19th century type there were no bargains to be had that I saw this past week.

On a side note, I had one auction that ended Sunday evening. The same auction as one that sold a month ago. Realized
20% less. The older auction ended on Saturday morning at 7am PDT. So far I've got a non paying bidder on this last auction
and I hope he doesn't come through so that I can relist with a Sat morning ending! Can't tell if it was the IRS that did it or not.

A 2006-W $50 Plat PCGS-69 (Uncirculated) ended with $1575. A few weeks ago, this same type of coin was sold for more than $1800.
