  • I always find it surprising that coins I thought would flop actually sell out faster than others. You never know.

    Oh yeah, image

Did they pass the paper work to get a 2nd comm coin this year?

I would have to say the proof platinum pieces seem like an obvious one.....

eagerly awaiting the proof platinum piece.
if gold price tanks, maybe the gold proof eagles will sell to a lower total...

So far everyone has nailed the winners. Commems, Buffalo Gold and Proof Platinum.

No new news on Buffalos. My guess is it will be toward the end of the year.

With 2004 Proof Platinum very strong, 2005 Very mild, 2006 is gonna BOMB - big time.

    Too bad.

    Welcome aboard.

It's risky to make predictions before the coins are even made but I'd guess the
mint and proof sets will be lower mintage this year. If quality of the mint sets is
like last year some of the coins should do well. Platinum might be low mintage
    again.

It's largely going to be luck of the draw.

  • With all the different coins coming out this year theres bound to be something that has a low mintage. My guess would be the Gold or Platium sets. Just my thoughts.

Lot's of winners as already mentioned. But my prediction for the BIG winners.... The special 3 piece Gold Eagle one-ounce set, with 3 one ounce coins, each with a different finish... one proof-finish coin, one uncirculated coin, and one with a special as yet un-disclosed finish but is expected to be a reverse proof contrast coin.

Second choice winner is the 3 piece one-ounce silver Eagle set, I think the finishes of the coins will be similar to the gold set.

I have not yet seen the expected release dates or the prices or the mintages, but the coins are to be released in 2006 to commemorate the anniversary of the Eagle coin program.

    Grab them fast!!

I think all the commems will sell out. That said. The coins with the most potential are coins that don't sell out. There are fewer available, then everyone wants one because they have low mintages.
