Can You Use Another Persons Advertisement Item To Compare To Yours On Ebay?

I have a simple but honest question, you know those dingbats on the TV coins shows, can you use their advertisement pictures on your ebay auction to compare their item at a high price? and have the same item you are selling at a lower price? I heard somewhere you can't use anyone elses pictures for your item description, but maybe black out the companies name and let the buyer figure it out for themselves who the dingbats are. Shedd some light on this topic, because once again shop at home had the 2006 gold $5 eagle on sale for $199.00 Raw BU ungraded, and I have 2 dozen pcgs ms 69's 2006 gold eagles that I can't get rid of for over $100.00.

There is something that is known as an "implied copyright" -> meaning just because they have not copyrighted the pictures or material, it is assumed that they own the rights to the pics/descriptions/etc.

That said, it is unlikely anyone would come after you for copyright infringement for something as minor as this. It is safer to just link to them if that is possible. I am pretty sure you can legally link to any website.

Maybe if you screamed or hollered at the people they would be more prone to buy your coins.

I see what you are getting at, maybe I should say the 2006 $5 gold coins have magic fairy dust in them!!! Damn these shows, I just can't figure why people pay up to five times face value for a coin.

I see nothing that would prevent you from quoting their prices since that's precisely what all these TV hucksters do. They dig up the highest "catalog" prices thay can find then use them to try and fool the buyers in to believing their stuff is a bargain.
