  did you try the auction archives at heritage? they gotta have 100's of past auctions for 1877's

  Feb. Grey sheet lists VG at $625 bid, and $675 sell.
  
  IMO, another piece that most generally draws better in a PCGS holder, if it isn't too dark and has no distracting marks, you'd be safe to add another $100 minimum to its value. (In my neighborhood, anyways)

  if the coin has way above average eye appeal and it a smooth light chocolate brown and original and solid for the grade with absolutely no problems
  
  it is retail a close to 900 dollar coin

  michael, as long as we're talking 1877's, what's retail nowadays for an 1877 with the attributes you describe, but in a green label PCGS XF-45 holder?
