So, which is worse? Paying huge money for bogus "classic" toners, or collecting moderns?
At least with the stuff I collect, (cameos), it's pretty easy to detect the one type of doctoring that happens - artificial frost. Doesn't seem to be so easy with these big money toners.
Come one, come all to the safety of the moderns market!

But I have to admit I love making top pop moderns...
Pulled 3 more MS65+ 2006 Jeffersons last night after going through 200 more rolls this week.
Bogus or questionable classic toners don't either.
Can I just go back to stamps?
<< <i>Ultra-high grade moderns don't do it for me.

At least you can't take a blowtorch to a stamp or dunk it in chemicals

No blowtorches, but there's plenty of doctoring that goes in in the stamp market. The most common is "artificial gum."

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
You collect modern crap.
Come, join real numismatists and collect coins older than you that have acquired the deep, rich, rainbow of colors making them extremely valuable!
<< <i>Is there a third choice... please? >>
Okay, anybody who doesn't want the first two choices has to collect VAMs.

Gold is pretty good at blocking the elements unlike silver.
We have our "issues", too.

<< <i>Do any of those get slabbed by PCGS or NGC? >>
I've encountered several PCGS graded examples, but have never come across an NGC graded example.
Here's one that's graded PR67CAM:
