There was an ad in the 2/27 Coin World for Freeman's Auctions in Phila and an upcoming coin auction. ANyone know anything about them?

On their web site they slaim to be America's oldest auction house. I can't find an online catalog there, and they haven't responded to my email.

I purchased coins from them in the 60's, Barry, and they did have some interesting items. They may very well be the oldest auction house in the country, but they handle everything. I it certainly worth your while checking it out.

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

Thanks Julian. I just went back to their web site and then now have the coin auction info posted with some pics. Looks like groups of low grade circulated coins for the most part.

Going back 10+ years ago, they basically sold coins coming out of estates.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

If anyone is going to attend this auction and would be willing to place a bid for me, please send PM. There's one lot I would be interested in, but I'm not interested in paying a $35 shipping fee.
