Does anyone have a microscope view of the obv. borders of a memorial cent. I heard all the states ar

I just wanted to see. i have even tried w/my scanner and a 20x loupe...is this just made up or are the states really there ?

  • ok, now i feel totally stupid. I mistakenlly thought it was reffering to the reverse of a memeorial lincoln CENT.

    I've heard this rumor too. Filling such fine detail would be difficult and the dies would wear very rapidly.

  • I scanned the reverse at 9600 dpi. the image was as large as my screen, there is NOTHING THERE. I should work for mythbusters.

  • I wouldn't call it a "myth" necessarily. The state names are actually on the memorial, so the artist is just trying to accurately capture it.

  • All the states is stretching it, but the US Treas. says 26 of them are. I betcha a beer you can't name
    them without looking!
