Thats cool, I have never found a Silver Dollar in circulation. Lucky Dog.
If I say something in the woods, and my wife isn't around. Am I still wrong?

That's cool, but I bet if you took a straight-on photo of the coin out of the holder others might agree with me in that F12 is a very harsh grade for that coin. It looks far closer to EF40 to me.

I was at My local bank this morning getting a bank bag for a poker buddy and making a deposit, I noticed in the tellers coin tray some goodies, i asked for all the $ and Half $ coins, the lady comes up with two IKES 1976 and 76-D Bicentennials! Then a 67 Kennedy! The teller next to her overheard my request and said "Do you think he would be interested in any of these kinda Half Dollars?" My Eyes lit up instantly as I saw what she was refering to.... 10 Walkers all from the 20s and 30s, I got them for face value!! SCORE SCORE!! my best find in over two years!!

Very nice! 99.99% of the walker finds these days are from the common years (1940s) - you made a nice score in the tough part of a beautiful series!

  • Congratulations! It must be very difficult these days to find a silver coin at a bank. Maybe someone recently deposited it not knowing that it was more valuable than face value?

This is a very dumb ass thread. - Laura Sperber - Tuesday January 09, 2007 11:16 AM image

Hell, I don't need to exercise.....I get enough just pushing my luck.
  • Congratulations!

The closest I have been to buying a silver coin for face was when I got a bunch of %40 JFKs at a Rite-Aid.

Found me a 1964 P silver quarter sitting in a bank teller tray a couple of weeks ago. Pretty neat finding
90 % silver in circulation these days.

My best circulation find is hard to figure out, since there have been so many since I started collecting 42 years ago. One that sticks out in my mind was obtaining a 1912S cent in change at a courthouse cafeteria about 20-22 years ago. The coin is in Fine condition. Way cool IMHO.

My best so called circulation find" was in 1971 or 1972 at my highschool and it had nothing to do with collectable coins.

I finished hoops practice and went to the school lobby to call my mom to come pick me up. It was about 6:00 p.m. at night in December and everything was dark and closed down. I placed the call and hung up the phone. The phone malfunctioned at that point and out of the phone onto the floor came a waterfall of dimes. No one else was around. I got excited, got down on the floor, started rounding up all of the dimes and stuffing them in my pockets. I do not remember the exact total, but it was between $11.00 and $13.00. I felt like I had hit triple sevens on a slot machine.
  • Sweeeeeeeeet. I was at a Publix grocery store one day and I was paying for my order. the register opened and I saw a peace dollar sitting in there. I bought it off the cashier at face value!
Everything I write is my opinion.

    Looking for alot of crap.

Wow. Silver dollars in circulation. Pretty amazing.

Best I've ever done was a Fine 1937-D Buffalo (4-legged) out of a Pepsi machine. And a gem BU 1940 Jefferson nickel that was inexplicably stuck in the middle of a roll of new 1992-P nickels.

I got a 1914-D Lincoln that grades VG on my paper route years ago. In those days you could
go to the bank and get all of the Morgans and Peace dollars you could afford. We thought it was
cool to go get a few of them and then just go out and spend at the movie house. How dumb we were.

  • In the last two weeks I found a 1911 wheat cent and a nice red uncirculated indian head cent. I was all worked up till I saw COPY stamped on the back, but beggers like me cant be choosers.image

  • Funny this thread caught my eye after dinner and a full day dealing with the VA. I stopped at the bank on the way home and dropped off some of my change which has accumulated over the past six months or so. I made the deposit and asked for a couple of rolls of halves. After checking them I snagged four bicentennials in AU shape I'd guess and a 66 in XF. Not too bad I'd guess. I've never had the luck of finding that roll of walkers or Franklins though.
