Lampshade tends to lower the contrast of the photo. Try bumping the contrast in photoshop a bit.

OK, here is an adjusted contract picture. Now, how do I get the FROST to show on the Lincoln it self.

Here's your coin with the contrast cranked up and the brightness toned down. I'd also advise you to take a picture of the coin by itself - get as close to the coin as possible or fill as much of the frame with the coin as possible - and then work on that.

Of course you have to remember that the more you fool with the photo, the more distored it gets.

Thanks BJ. Yep, the only problem I have had with the really close picture is the blurryness of the coin. I'll keep trying. Thanks for the help.

Is this kinda what you want? I not really sure what's wrong, but some things to try are: open your aperture up one stop; move the lights closer to the coin; shoot without the lamp shade. If your camera has the ability use a pre-set white balance. The image is a little under exposured and these will help.

Can you change your auto focus to a flower image? That might help you get closer. Also a tripod if you are not using one can make a lot of difference.

Yep, got the tri-pod and I have the FLOWER image on. I think this is what puts the camera into MACRO mode I think?

One thing you might try is backing off on the lighting a little if you are indeed using mucho lighting. Also making the light more directional can make them look nicer. If you look at Russ' pictures the lights are mainly in the 12 o'clock region, gives better shadows.

Sort of. image There are actually lights at 12 c'clock, 5 o'clock, and 7 o'clock. But, the light at 12 o'clock is 100 watt, while the other two are 60 watt.

OK OK, the light is more prominent at 12 o'clock, making it more directional.
