Worldwide DNS Server Problem - Please read - Just an FYI !!!!!

Just to give all of you a heads up, there is a worldwide DNS sever problem. As a reseller of Internet access to over 10,000 customers, we have been informed that 3 servers, 1 in the WEST coast, 1 in the EAST cost and 1 in EUROPE have been having problems over the past 24 hours. If any of you are having problems getting to web sites, not just this one and I know you want to get to this one, it's because of these 3 servers. According to the people working on this, it should be fixed by tomorrow, but you all know how things work. Just an FYI.

This would affect your access to EBAY, no just busy, just down.

These must be main trunk servers I assume? Since there are literally thousands and thousands of DNS servers scattered about the world, these would have to be the biggies to have any wide-ranging impact.

If anybody has problems accessing the site at any time due to DNS lookup, you may use the IP address below to access it. FYI

You bet RUSS, right on. These are 3 of the 9 largest DNS servers on the Internet. Let's just hope that they are up fast, I pay penalties for ever 24 hours down to my customers.

Thanks for the heads up! I was getting ready to call Comacast and complain about their "high-speed" internet...

Do it. They will credit your account for the down time. Trust me, I pay these fees to my customers. It's not their problem, it's mine. There is no excuse.

  • The lastest I hear is that those servers should be upgraded to 486DX machines by noon tomorrow. Still waiting to hear from customer support in India when those upgrades should arrive though. The internet should fly then.

Thanks for the update. I hope those 486's have the math co-processor.

GOD, anything is better than what is going on right now. I could care less if they were old 286's. Just fix the dam problem. The cost alone in penalties to my customers, I could buy them SUPER COMPUTERS to do the same job.

This is rather interesting. I just had my website switched to a different server, and it took less than three hours for the new IP address to propagate.

That's what the "DX" at the end of 486 means, so yes they do.
