OT: Popup adds on Ebay?

I logged onto Ebay and everytime I go back to the main listing page an add pops up. Is this something new or have I downloaded something that does this? It really slows down the dialup connection and I need to get rid of whatever causes it to happen.image Thanks for any help.

I don't get popups from eBay but I freak out and keep my system clean. You probably got gator. Been downloading freeware? What does the popup say?

It is a different ad each time. Lower your mortgage rates, lose weight, make more money, all of the usual spam crap. Is there a program to help keep this from happening? I have not downloaded anything free, but I will have to check with my wife.

aaaaah yes, the wife. You got gator. Or Web2000 or Alexis. When you click on the "I agree" you also download software that tracks where you go and what you look at. If for example you buy your clothes on eBay or any other site these programs log it and next time you click on socks you get a popup with an ad for socks that directs you to another site.
Here try this, it's free but has no spyware. Download & run this and you will be surprised at what kind of junk you have downloaded to your harddrive. Text

Does it say Messenger Service at the top? If so it's a way for people to spam you through Windows Messenger. If this is the case I can show you how to diable it.

The ads say popupsponsor when they are loading. I will try the adaware program now. Thanks for the help.

Notice their announcement, advertisers pay them $$ to junk up your pc::

I use popupstopper, and I think it works pretty good.

When you have kids who are computer saavy, now matter how hard you try, you can't keep them from downloading stuff.

What a crock. If this is not aggressive, them what is it. They will get one hell of an e-mail shortly. I will try popupstopper also. Thanks for the help.

Myself uses Popup Killer. Really cool because it makes a BOOM!! sound everytime it kills a popup. Sounds like a war when I get on certian sites: Text

  • Thanks for the info on Ad-Aware. I had it before before I crashed my computer and have been trying to find it since. CHRIS
