Fractional currency shields from mint

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fractional_currency_shield

A local shop got one of these fractional currency shields from a customer. I've never seen these before, how would you market them since the proofs are held in the "shield"?

There are 3 types: gray pink and green..gray being the least expensive...if it's in good shape, grays go for $5K range..pink and green much higher. All the notes that are glued to the background are specimen notes that are trimmed so that they can fit onto the shield. Many shields were stored in the basement of a treasury building and were water damaged during a flood. Finding a shield with minimal damage is quite a find. Many shields have been lost to history. The specimens were soaked off of the background and were sold separately. Do a search on Heritage archives and you will see the many different conditions and their prices.

BTW...the link above was an advertising sheet...shields were sold mounted in heavy frames. Here is a green shield $29K

Here is an advertising poster that included a shield (from Smithsonian). I don't know any held by private hands but I was able to make a great poster using the Smithsonian archives and had Staples print it in color.
