wow you hit the gold mine!!! Congrats. You did a great job of picking the cards.
Can you share the cost per card or total cost of the service? How much do you think it propped up each card?
It cost $6795 with a 10% volume discount.
I was disappointed in three (3) results in that a 1963 Maris as well as a 1968 and 1969 Ryan did not diamond.
Explain to me (since I'm completely in the dark) what the Silver means for the value on a grade. I get Gold means it's probably undergraded, but what does Silver add?
Silver means a card has an exceptional eye appeal or presents exceptionally for the assigned grade whereas a gold means that a card should have a technical grade higher by 0.5 or 1.0 points than the assigned grade.
With regards to value added….I am likely to bid more aggressively on a card which presents exceptionally (silver) or appears to be undergraded (gold).
What does Bronze equal? Is there Platinum?
Agree. Seems like Silver is for folk who need to be told a card has nice eye appeal. Or for those who prefer to purchase a card sight unseen like in the old old SCD days

Not even a minute do I buy the whole buh buh buh I'm a man-child japery - Me (2025)
Congratulations. Nice portfolio. And some still call this a hobby, lol? Well done.
As long obtaining FMV requires losing 10-20% of each sale to an action house/site coupled with collectible sales being subjected to much higher taxes than capital gains , I personally would not consider it a portfolio.
P.S With less than a handful of mouse clicks I can sell Stocks and have the money in my bank account in seconds with minimal or no transaction fees.
No waiting for my money, no BS from an auction house or ebay due to buyers remorse or other nonsense....

A little sarcasm implied 1982FB. Although, I would consider "sports cards" an alternate asset class and deals can be made with auction houses to reduce selling fees. 100% agree with mouse clicks, near instant cash and low fees.
P.S. Not as US Senator, just a retired Government employee............
Easy as that. However…..there’s a huge gap between the act of moving securities vs. locating and obtaining high end vintage cards. An element of greater satisfaction gets included, particularly if you can do well at both. Aside from the fees, taxes, etc. making a quality investment into something which matures to a higher level is a financial benefit.
Diversification? Gold..collectibles/antiques..Cd's, stocks, real estate.
Owning a baseball card/sportscard is more fun/enjoyable than a stock certificate…
Ya know it's healthy that there's all kinds of opinions on collecting.
I LIKE both. but i would put cards on top.
Not if you to literally need funds instantly or need to provide info for a business deal or loan.
And what about those that store cards in a out of state vault? How is that more fun?
"More Fun" seldom mean fiscally optimal and that is the point of my comments.

Mine are stored at a vault in my home bank…and I handle the cards frequently. Recently, I sold a card which I had bought for 4-figures…for 5-figures…in a private transaction for 3x profit
I put cards on top because 1) I enjoy the hobby more than stocks, 2) Unless you are really savvy in the market, the cards grow better on a whole, 3) Less risk, especially when buying centered graded Nolan Ryan's.
But I do enjoy the stock market, I follow it pretty close.
How about Real Estate? Not easy to unload like stocks, but definitely a good way to invest. You can rent it, you can hold it or you can flip it.
Unreported on your taxes I'd bet. I prefer making my profit legally which apparently puts me in the minority.

Do you do anything to manage your basis?
I knew you would ask?! Of course! 🇱🇷
If you're talking to me there, I was asking 1982. He mentioned that he prefers legal profit so I was wondering whether he was using any particular mechanism for managing basis and other profit-offsetting costs.
Yes…I know.
The card is not skewed or tilted...just not straight in the holder. Here is the card with it being straight in the holder.
I purchased the card in an REA during the Fall 2014. It has an interesting story. REA purchased the card raw from the
original owner who pulled the card from a wax pack back in 1963. The kid would look at the cards once...chew the
bubble game...and place the cards back in the wax wrapper...not to be looked at again until being sold to REA 51 years
later in 2014 who had the card graded by SGC...and the card came back an SGC-92.
Liberia?
Liberia what?
Liberia glad to see me?
🇱🇷 This is Liberia.
🇺🇸 This is 'Merica
I rarely get jealous about other people’s cards, but consider this one of them. 🙌
