waht do you think of gem proof indian cents RB & B but with great toning?

michaelmichael Posts: 9,524 ✭✭✭
i think thst a set of as many different dates as you could get in proo indian cents gem proof ngc/pcgs

coins that are graded red brown but are mostly red or really nicely monster toned or even gem proof brown coins but coins that have amazing eye appeal like coloured coins that have the brown designation

and of course with no spots or other unsightly problems

i think that these coins are undervalued and also low pops and are just uncommon and beautiful and would make a great set and always saleable as to their look and popularity and i think they are all currently undefvzalued sleepers with the right look

any comments as per the above??????????

sincerely michael

sounds like a wonderful set but PR IHC can be pricey at the grades you are talking about. I have nearly a ful set of IHC in grades MS65 to AG and I won't part with it for anything. I don't think that is a sleeper just rare.

I think you get a lot of bang for your buck with proof indian head cents in red/brown and brown. Think about it, for $300 you can get a lot of coin in one of those. They are readily available in the 63-64 grades, but the gems you speak of Michael, are rather elusive, but I think you know that already image
I like finding them with a bit of green or blue toning to them. Very nice!!
The higher graded pieces may realize some decent appreciation, but the lower graded pieces, may be nice, but I don't see them skyrocketing. I'm no forecaster though!! image

If you can cherry pick those beauties for a brown price, do it. The real beauties however, when handled by a smart seller, bring between RB and R price, at a minimum, higher if a real beauty.

I'm hooked on them. As Lakesammman said the monster BNs are no longer steals but they still provide the most bang for your buck in the series.

He introduced IrishMike and myself to a collector at FUN who's been cherrypicking BN & RB proofs for quite some time. Ever been hit by so many awesome coins in one shot you could barely recall any of the details? I remember most of his coins only by color and toning pattern because I stopped looking at the dates. The one date I do recall was an 1882 with deep sea green at the periphery that seemed to be melting on the mirrored fields towards the center where it turned translucent pale green. A truly breathtaking and rare color to find on these in such quantity.

    PS:

Michael -- these were 3 of his "rejects": link. You would get a real kick out of looking through his two coin boxes someday.

As usual, the pictures just don't do these coins justice. Thanks for sharing them again. How did the "copper god's" pictures turnout??

I love 'em! I've been buying nice BN and RB (mostly PR 64-65) whenever an opportunity presents itself. As has already been said, they're a great value.
