Newps from the Recent Legend "Marquis" auction

Eldorado9Eldorado9 Posts: 2,627 ✭✭✭✭✭

I took a gamble, the photos were not fantastic. These came from the Legend "Marquis Weekly Auction" #1, which seems to have nice coins, but at lower price points compared to their higher end auctions. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the package, as the Walkers are really nice and lustrous, but the proof 1956 Franklin stopped me in my tracks. Absolute perfection, DCAM devices, and watery golden mirrors blending to a tiny bit of bright red/blue right at the edges....You know the look....It might be one of my favorite coins right now....I'm carrying it in my pocket today! Picture doesn't do her justice...Gotta have it TrueViewed.

Thanks Turtle! Franklins were always a favorite coin back when I was a young collector, and they have lost none of their charm.

That is a well struck 46-S, and I bet the toning on the 43-D looks much better than the photo. Nice purchases!

Yeah, I'm pleased.....It looks like Legend did a nice job here of pre inspecting the pieces. The Walkers are dripping w/ luster, and the 43-d in hand is just gorgeous, with that sunset color. Thanks Buddy!

Greg Cohen used to curate and organize these sales. That's been his role in previous sales in this price domain. He's said he loves having "no-brainers" to sell to collectors. Laurie's given him tomorrow off so he can hold his wife's hand as they induce labor. o:):)

Waiting for my 2 coins to come in, I snagged the 36-S and 44-S Walkers in 66, both looked very well struck (even the 44-S) and looked like blazers too.

I assumed it was supposed to be a "marquee" auction, unless they expected Marquis de Sade to show up. ;)

Ha! Thank you sir may I have another! Coin that is. I think your Walkers should be blazers indeed.....These aren't "b" coins by any means.

I think a Marquis might be the son of an Earl, but that would only apply to sales of British coins. :p

edited to add: Ouch, only a masochist would leave out the French.

Love the “Marquis” tag ….. ⭐️ Intentionally over the top perhaps but still fun ….
