Definitely an improvement and paid under what I think it might be worth.
This is my old 1884 S, it was a gift about 13 years ago.

And my new one. It is a VAM 8. 1 and 8 misplaced in the denticles. S mintmark placed to the left. And this is the late die state as it has a small spike sticking out just above the lowest point of Liberty's neck, which is visible in my pics. I grade it AU, possibly high EF.

Congrats! Tough date/mint. Still I’m more a fan of the dark and worn look.
Looks to have a quality checker below 'dollar. Nice upgrade!

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!
My Jefferson Nickel Collection
My high school chemistry teacher gave that one to me, and as a gift, I wont be getting rid of it.
Yeah, I know. It isn't a submission coin. The ding doesn't bother me, just happy to have one with less wear.
nice upgrade. you know you're thinking about being a serious morgan collector when you're flirting with au and better 84-s dollars. looks to be vam 8 lds with that spiked neck.
There is no way that’s EF. It definitely has AU meat.
Very nice coin... and I think it falls in the AU spectrum.... Cheers, RickO
Nice upgrade. Agree, low AU grade
