Question for coin shop owners.

I would like to know if you sell more of the slabbed coins or raw ungraded coins. I haven't been in a shop lately but I don't remember many slabbed coins for sale.

Here it comes...
Smitten with DBLCs.
Depends on the shop. Most volume is still raw, in my experience. Most high value coins tend to make it into plastic. It simply isn't worth it, normally, to slab coins under $100. And, often, it isn't worth it to slab coins of only a couple hundred unless the coin has a price spread based on grade or is frequently counterfeited.
Generic gold, not worth slabbing in 62/63 because it just sells as bullion.
The last time I was in a shop was around 2006...In the PNW.... Then it was a mix of about 40% slabbed, the rest raw, usually in 2x2's.... That day I purchased two AH Kennedy's...one raw, one in a slab... unattributed...both for bargain prices even then. Cheers, RickO

*Hi, I'd like to sell my coin.
Yessir, may I see it, please?
Sure, here.
Oh sir, we don't buy these.
Why not?
Well, because you don't have a label saying you weren't stupid.
But last time you said I was stupid to have it graded by the wrong company.
Yessir, that was then.
So, I paid the "right" company to grade and authenticate it.
Bravo, sir!
So, why won't you buy this now that it's in the holder you told me would be best.
Like I said, sir, you don't have an "I wasn't stupid" label with it.
Well, that's sort of stupid, isn't it?
Not really sir. We want to buy coins from people who weren't stupid.
Are you saying I'm stupid?
Nossir, that isn't for us to say.
But if I pay someone to ....say... I'm not stupid, then you'll buy it?
For the time being, sir.*
All of the B&Ms around me are primarily buyers. One store is so damn busy they have one of those 'take-a-number' machines. People are lined up most of the day. They are doing lots of jewelry/gold buying as well. I'm guessing they just wholesale everything out a few times a week. I think I've see two or three customers buy a silver round or two, but that's about it. I think I'm the only customer buying true numismatic material! I picked up a nice colorfully PCGS MS63 SLQ last week actually.

I have not been in a shop for 5-6 years since my buddies sold the land.
Mostly slabbed unless raw bullion coins. Demand for each can come in waves or be flat the water like glass.
I'm no coin shop owner, but in my local B&M's (both of them) 90% of the coins are raw...... but probably 2/3 of the inventory value lives in slabs.
Local BM has mostly raw coins and notes.
How is Siberia this time of year?
Frozen coins.
The machine needs feeding. Or in simple terms: " the market is open, alive, and well" . Slab or raw: it's not so relevant.
The last two coin shops that I stepped in were complete opposites of each other between slabbed and raw material. 80%-20 % slabbed - raw and vice versa.

It might surprise you! I saw 104 in June one time when I was there!
Number of coins or dollar value?
We have maybe 200 slabs that represent much of our value and a couple thousand raw coins.
Like to think of us as an old time shop satisfying a wide range of collectors.
If in Cincinnati please stop in and say hello.

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.
A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.
It’s a function of the level of spending the customer can afford.
80% raw coins in our shop. Small high dollar slab selection.
