Commemorating Today's 50th Anniversary of Man's Landing on the Moon
An extended family member put together this exhibit for a local library using photos I had taken:

And I commemorated the day by taking advantage of the moon's tides to help land this, and some more, Sockeye Salmon.

Along with enjoying the the mint's pair of curved commemoratives reminding of shots out of the ballpark and out of the earth.

Here are some closeup views of the moon rock collected on that eventful day as I photographed it at Japan's Expo 70 - the year after the moon landing:

Watched all of the specials yesterday, so many things going on to get that Eagle to the surface of the moon. What a thrill it must of been to view the Earth from our Moon and to take that first step.
A truly fantastic achievement. All the painstaking labor, training, engineering, mathematics, materials and dedication came together to make this a success. Cheers, RickO
Which special stood out? PBS had a two hour one that is available on DVD/Blu-Ray if anyone missed it.
Watched the NASA channel.
They were all good, was going back n forth from Discovery Channel to BBC America.
North Coin we’re the reds in thick or slow? From your pick looks like your on the Kenai!
Correct. After an early surge on the Russian it has been moderate this year for Reds. They are there but one has to earn them.
the moon landing sure is a fond memory today
Thank you North Coin I live here on the Kenai just to busy working this summer. Maybe later when 50K hit the river. 28K is the largest I have heard of. We can sure use some rain though! Praying for rain!
Looks like the rain came and over 50k hit the river this week. Hope you had a break in your work schedule to take advantage of the increased numbers.
At least with the hot hot summer to date the berries are becoming available earlier. These from a hike above Whittier earlier this week:
