and the Phillies still sucked.

18-44 to start the season, and 5 errors in a home loss to the cubs.

Back when the Phillies sucked, a car cost you $500 dollars, and a house cost you $3,500 dollars.
I think Bryce Harper makes $3,500 dollars each time he swings the bat.

However, this statement could also read....."Back when the Phillies sucked, a car cost you $35,000 dollars, and a house cost you $500,000 dollars".

Either statement is fine with me.

“In the future, when the Phillies suck, aircars will cost $1,000,000 and houses on Mars will be free from the government so long as you agree to live there in perpetuity and pay taxes the required 4 times a year.”

Harper is earning what $35,000,000 or so? Divided by 162 games that is a bit over $200,000 per game. Figure a dozen swings a game and you are at over $15,000 per swing.

So if it takes Harper an average of 10 swings to get a hit, he basically gets paid $150,000 to get a hit ? If he gets 12 swings a game, and I'm guessing he gets a hit 1 out of every 4 at bats ? I think my math is wrong though. If Harper is hitting around .250, how much money does he get for each hit ?

Your $150,000 estimate per hit is pretty close.

I would get a lot more per hit. I figure I would be lucky and swing in the right place and maybe get 1 hit a year....so I would be making 35 million per hit! :o
