Cash Register drawer finds; something old, something silver, something from San Francisco.

Trying to be careful about what is slipped into circulation, normally rolled coins, something of interest catches even an untrained eye. A coworker noticed an odd fellow in the Nickel portion of the cash drawer late last year;
...I don't recall the common date, but recovered just in time.
Silver has been spotted on occasion;
...and just the other night in the quarter portion;
One of the last circulating San Francisco coins;
Not a whole lot of excitement at an otherwise boring night at the parts counter.

Ummmm...hope this is not too personal a question for the auto parts store folks --- But, why do you keep your drawers in the cash register?
They are very nice drawers, so I have been told, and need to be kept somewhat secure.
