Just learned today that besides punching in the PCGS Cert# you can also check for authenticity

using the pcgs barcode i.e. if the coin/holder comes up ok for pcgs cert # albeit no photo another check is using the barcode,a nd if there is no corresponding barcode then you got a problem Houston......so when did this check come into play, I obviously didn't get the memo?

The barcode is these digits put together: six digit PCGS Coin Number, 2 digit Numeric Grade, 8 digit Cert Number.

Sometimes fakers will copy arabic digits for these matching the coin in the holder,
but will fail to make the corresponding barcode. We have discussed this in a few old threads.
The barcode in this photo has the PCGS Coin Number correct, but the grade and cert number wrong.
