That's all the time I spent since I was not looking for any major coins, just a small hole in my collection to fill. Since I don't get to many shows like you guys do, every time I attend one, my eyes pop open like a kid's! I didn't carry a program with me, and I went to the back of the hall, not entirely aware that was where the less expensive coins generally resided. In all of my skimming thru the tables I found 3 examples of the coin I was looking for and struck out all 3 times. One was a PF70, which I couldn't afford on my budget, I wanted just a PF69. The second one was part of a Proof set that I didn't want the rest of, and the third was part of a larger series set of Proof coins that the dealer would not separate this one coin from. So no luck today.

At one point, I had wandered to the forward part of the hall and was looking down on some great coins and seeing names of dealers that have been renowned in my book for ages. At the Legend table, most of the coins lay flat in the case except one I saw on an easel; I went over to look at it, and it was a 1943 bronze cent, MS-61. Wonderful. Also, I thank the guys at Harry Laibstain Rare Coins for bringing the 1875 half eagle to the show, I was happy to see it in person - they should know that if I can swing winning a large Pennsylvania lottery jackpot, I will be in touch about this coin! :)

That would've guaranteed that I would've only been allowed to remain at the bourse for >>one<< hour. :D

Good stuff! Out of curiosity...what is the PF69 coin you are seeking? I don't have any, I just thought maybe the forum peeps might be able to help you in locating one! :)

Just a minor coin, the 2017-S ASE Proof. I'll find one elsewhere soon, I'm sure.

Since I more often attend small shows where it is tougher to find rare coins, it didn't occur to me that at a major show, the opposite might occur, that it would be tougher to find a relatively insignificant coin! Y'day I actually saw one or more of the last 4 scarce coins I need to complete my various series, before I even encountered a 17-S ASE!

Interesting report. Starting at the back is different... but can be a shock by the time you get to the top tier tables. ;) Good luck with your search...you might try putting out a request on the BST.... I know there are opportunities out there...Cheers, RickO

I know, it WAS a shock. When I wandered up front and looked down to see some great rarities, I laughed and said to myself, "What the hell am I doing among the Legend / Kagin / Heritage / J.J. Teaparty, et al.... tables looking for a hundred-dollar coin?"
