I know the seller, he told me he got $5k for this.

Used to reside in an old fatty holder, he sent it back in, got the + and the *, but it didn't bean at CAC. Mine is still in the old holder but has a sticker. I know 68's are $10k, if you average out PCGS/NGC slabs. Did he just get lucky with the right buyer at the right time, or is the market really that strong for Stars?

    Your coin is lovely.

There are STAR registries at NGC. Must have wanted a high grade example with a STAR??

the other coin has "amazing toning", so tough to compare.

I think the plus did a lot for the coin given the huge jump in value in MS68.

I like your coin a lot more (Not saying the other one isn't nice), but I think it was a case of selling in the right place right time.

Also, congrats to the seller. I know I wouldn't be able to pass up an offer like that.

I like your coin better also.
But you'll need the plus to get bigger money.
And I think that the $5k Plus was top dollar.

You have a great looking coin. But any time a seller gets a price that is way above standard, he should consider himself fortunate. You have to be in the right place at the right time.

@FadeToBlack...Looking at your picture, I would say your coin is superior to the sold coin....Very nice. Cheers, RickO

I realize the seller has a no refunds policy, but I would wait a while to find out if it actually sold as any buyer might force a refund due to SNAD if they don't agree with the "amazing toning" statement.

It was a BIN with a B.O. option & sold for $4,950. ( per Watchcount ) Seller has no choice, but to refund, if there is a SNAD claim.

Unfortunately for those with "comparable" or "better" coins, if it isn't in the holder it will not bring the holder $. Which is kind of strange when we see huge spreads between the grades; I don't know another field where comparables of slightly different quality differences bring hugely different different prices.
