Is a "slowdown" only a ...rumor? Seems to be slowing to me.

Oh let's all try to figure out why.
I sure can't. We got assurance of the biggie: authenticity. Pretty much also a fair shot at a consensus on condition via professional third party hired and experienced grade experts.
So what could be bad?
Surely not a sudden switch to chasing not only grade, but grade OF the grade.
Now kids, let's all think about that.
Done?
Good, now pick up your pencils and write an essay on how complicated and uncertain a hobby can get before people start saying the hell with it.

I have.
I have also a fairly nice check in front of me that's going to chase esthetics instead of games.

Okay kids. See you all tomorrow.

Apparently a complaint about a company which grades slabs.

For more recent and common coins, Blame population growth more than the beans. If a coin is easy to find, and one can choose the best value from many offered, what should one expect prices to go for "the rest" of them?

I'm having the best quarter that I've had in years. Coins seem to be more in-demand than they were a year ago, and supply has dwindled.

Why is everyone here so obsessed with things that aren't coins (slabs/stickers)?

I've heard that one "second tier" TPGS is having one of their best years ever while the other continues to drop their prices to bring in submissions. All that in spite of the slowdown that many are posting/talking about.

If there wasn't a need for grading companies there would not be any.
In the 1960 and 1970's how many dealers were selling dipped AU coins for gems?
that is why there are slabs and stickers!

To consider the decline you have to consider the run up. We saw registry competition drive a high end common quarter to over ten thousand dollars. Add in the crack outs and resubmissions which diluted the grades and to address this a committee appointed messiah that possesses the only set of human eyes that can separate quality from dreck.

Bailing water and huge salaries the auction houses have to take draconian measures to increase transaction costs which put an additional drag on hammer prices. Grey Sheet purveyor has created a false bottom resource to protect his investors.

I am actually seeing an uptick since about a year ago.

Prices have adjusted down , but things seem to be moving if you price correctly. Ebay sales are decent, again, those holding out for yesterday prices may not thinks so, but it is.

offers on good material seems stronger than a year ago

Coins are not life...if you are tired of collecting coins and hate the new grading companies...then just quit...sell your coins...find another hobby...or just sit around and watch fake news...do what makes you happy like RickO...but I guess complaining makes some people happy...to each their own...
